The Judo-club of Neuville-sur-Sarthe feels the impact of the health context despite an increase in staff.
“Le Maine Libre”: How has the Judo-club been doing since the start of the school year?
Matthieu Duchemin (president of the Judo-club): “Recruitment at the beginning of the year is normal. On the other hand, we are still suffering from last year’s low numbers associated with disappointing loyalty: beginners are proportionally more numerous than in previous years. The numbers are up compared to last year, but we have not found those from before the epidemic. We are therefore still feeling the impact of last year on our squad this season”.
And now, how is it going?
“We are seeing concerns among some of our members and their parents. Our teacher has also adapted the judo sessions this week so that there is less contact, and if possible, we try to group children from the same school or the same family during the exercises. For taiso, the exercises are done without contact. We deplore some absentees in the courses, but this remains marginal. Attendance is usually down during the winter period, but some have chosen to skip classes as a precaution for the moment, and of course some are contact cases in their class for example. A departmental competition is about to be canceled for lack of registered in particular. We come back to the ambient concern. »
