Next time on… Peacemaker season 1, episode 5 – “Monkey Dory”

In the last episode of Pacifier, everyone was feeling the aftermath of the half-successful mission to assassinate Senator Goff. However, in between these fallouts, many of which involved deep-seated personal issues for Chris regarding his father and late brother, there were some very important twists and turns that will have interesting ramifications in the future. Pacifier season 1, episode 5, titled “Monkey Dory”. This is where things are:

Peacemaker season 1 episode 4 recap:

  • Chris goes to visit his father after learning that Economos has framed him, but the conversation only makes him more miserable. We learn that Aggie has trained Chris to kill since he was a child, and also that Chris was somehow involved in the death of his beloved brother.
  • Chris saves Goff’s escaped butterfly in a jar in his trailer and floats it on top of the bong’s smoke.
  • Vigilante was technically hired by Murn, primarily to keep an eye on him, and decided to try to prove himself by murdering Auggie, a failed attempt that only seems to make things worse.
  • Judo Master survived and quickly escaped, leading to another confrontation with Chris and being shot by Leota; again he managed to survive, but this time just barely.
  • At the end of the episode, Murn was revealed to be a butterfly.

Preview and Predictions for “Monkey Dory”:

There’s a lot to unpack here, so here’s some informed speculation:

  • Did Leota shoot Judo Master out of concern for Chris, or was she stopping him from revealing what he knew about butterflies? I guess the latter, on Waller’s orders.
  • What happened between Chris and his brother? The clip we see seems to suggest that he died in some sort of fight. Was he fighting with Chris?
  • Since Chris has a butterfly in a jar, the thing will almost certainly escape at some point. When it does, who will it infect? Since infected people can apparently keep up appearances indefinitely, we may not learn this information right away even if they do escape, making for a fun guessing game.
  • Speaking of which, is infected murn a new development or has it been infected since the beginning? If it’s the latter, why does it work against butterflies?
