The Kansas City Chiefs will be without running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire for Sunday’s playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers with a shoulder injury.
Head coach Andy Reid confirmed the news on Friday.
Receiver Tyreek Hill (heel) and running back Darrel Williams (toe) should be available.
Edwards-Helaire practiced in a limited way on Wednesday, but not at all on Thursday or Friday.
“It hasn’t been as good as it could be and what we thought it could be,” Reid said.
Frequently injured, Edwards-Helaire missed five games earlier this season with a sprained knee ligament. He returned and started five more games before quitting early in the second half of the Dec. 26 game against the Steelers.
In 10 games in 2021, Edwards-Helaire rushed for 517 yards and scored four touchdowns. Through the air, he added 19 catches, 129 yards and two majors.
Williams took the opportunity to establish himself as a reliable option in the Chiefs’ backfield. He started seven games in 2021, got 558 yards and scored six touchdowns. He also had 47 catches for 452 yards and two touchdowns.
