Prior to the Divisional games of the Playoffs from NFL, the league sent a communication to the remaining eight teams with updates regarding COVID-19 protocols. Within the communiqué it is emphasized that both Vaccinated and unvaccinated players will no longer be tested daily.
No more daily tests?
The statement was obtained thanks to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, reporting that Going forward, both vaccinated and unvaccinated players will no longer have to go through the rigorous daily COVID-19 tests imposed by the league.
The report also clarifies that the NFL Players Association (NFLPA) approved the change taking into account the information collected from the Omicron variant. Both the NFL and the NFLPA saw a decrease in positive cases during this period.
All players and staff members will now be subject to enhanced symptom screening, symptom-based testing, and targeted surveillance testing. Pelissero also said players on a 90-day trial “vacation” will be tested if they show symptoms, regardless of their vaccination status.

The NFL just sent a memo to the remaining playoff clubs with a significant update to COVID testing cadence — eliminating the distinction between vaccinated and unvaccinated players, who will no longer be subject to daily testing, per sources.
