Mexico City /
Novak Djokovic‘s situation in Australia has caused many reactions that his fellow tennis players, among them Rafael Nadal, who claimed to be married to the matter and in previous days had pointed out that the Serbian was not above the law, however, Nick Kyrgios came out in defense of ‘Nole’.
For the Australian tennis player, the statements by the Immigration Minister of his country, Alex Hawke, sThey are false, since he accused the AUS Open champion of being a danger to public health, something that the athlete disagrees with.
“Hawke said it’s a threat to our borders. It is not. Right now, it’s like a weapon of mass destruction. He’s here to play tennis, he doesn’t bother anyone. The mistreatment of the people of Melbourne over the last two years has been appalling,” Kyrgios said.
Although he says he understands that people and authorities show annoyance because Djokovic is not vaccinated, he also assured that he should enter the nation without problems if they present all the requirements.
“I understand the anger at not being vaccinated and receive a medical exemption, but if you look at it literally, it has all the documentation,” he explained.
Finally, he attacked colleagues who have not shown support for Novak, especially for Stefanos Tsitsipas, Andy Murray and of course with Rafael Nadal, with whom he has had a fierce rivalry. He also revealed that the same Serbian has contacted him to thank him for his support.
“It’s a dangerous situation to be in, when you feel like the world is against you, when you feel like you can’t do anything. On a human level, you need the support of other players. Tsitsipas, I understand that you have your point of view on vaccination. Murray, always politically correct. Nadal, whatever… but where is your support for Novak? Imagine how it feels.”
