As an advisor to the Judo Club of Nippon Sport Science University, I am instructing younger generations. Under the influence of his older brother, he devoted himself to judo in middle and high school, and went on to study at Nippon Sport Science University, a judo powerhouse. I won the student championship twice. After graduating, I tried hard to practice for the Los Angeles Olympics, but missed out.
“There is only one person on the Hinoki stage. It doesn’t make sense if you don’t take the number one.” In addition to daily practice, Mr. Yamamoto decided to adopt the taping method for the injured elbow and the original weight loss method. As a result, he won the world championship at the age of 27, participated in the 1988 Seoul Olympics, and won the bronze medal. “I made efforts in my own way, such as practicing and building my body, so I had a strong feeling that I had done it without regrets.”
After that, he became the director of the Nippon Sport Science University Judo Club, which has nearly 200 members at the young age of 34. His students include Hifumi Abe and Poetry, and they were raised as gold medalists for the Tokyo Olympics. “We will continue to support the group championships in each tournament and the winning of the Abe siblings’ gold medal at the Paris Olympics,” he said.
