Novak Djokovi is unvaccinated, but buys company that conducts research against Biontech

For weeks, the entry posse around the unvaccinated tennis superstar kept the sports world in suspense. Novak Djokovic is now investing in research – to combat Covid-19.

Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic, who is not vaccinated against Covid-19, has acquired the Danish biotech company QuantBioRes. He bought around 80 percent of the shares, company boss Ivan Loncarevic told the Reuters news agency. QuantBioRes wants to develop a medical treatment against Covid-19. Around eleven people are currently working on it in Denmark, Australia and Serbia. Loncarevic did not want to say how much Djokovic invested.

It’s a curious new development about the world number one: Djokovic recently made headlines because he was denied entry to Australia (read more on the subject here). The 34-year-old defending champion wanted to take part in the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam tournament of the year, with an exemption from the vaccination requirements.
