PEOPLE’S MIND – The Australian Open Grand Slam starts on Monday 17 January 2022.
Some of the world’s top players took part in the first of the four series of world championships. However, there is no Novak Djokovic name in the list of seeded men’s singles tennis player.
The world number one has become a byword for the tennis championship which will be held in Melbourne. The news about the Australian Open was almost outpaced by the controversy over Novak Djokovic’s visa, the treatment of immigration authorities, and the Australian government‘s handling of cases.
Controversy colored the presence of the Serbian tennis player in Australia on January 6, 2022. Novak Djokovic has ambitions to win his 21st grand slam title. However, when he arrived at the airport, he was immediately detained by Australian immigration authorities.

The Australian government did not allow Novak Djokovic to enter the country and canceled his visa.
This was done because the tennis player had not been vaccinated against Covid-19, which is a condition for someone to enter Australia.
Moreover, a few days before his arrival, Novak Djokovic had made a statement that infuriated many Australians by saying he could enter Australia with medical exceptions.
Novak Djokovic then appealed his detention. Just four days later, the court acquitted him. However, on January 14, 2022, the Australian government again canceled Novak Djokovic’s visa.
