The Agramonte district, a place of humble and hardworking people, received, on Thursday 20, the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, who led an intergal visit of the party organization in the province of Sancti Spíritus , the first visit of this kind after the 8th Congress.
As he explained talking to the inhabitants, the Council of Ministers’ courses have been organized in the provinces for three years: two have been carried out in Sancti Spíritus.
“On this occasion, however, it is about the Party, an integral visit with which we redeem this work system that allows us to bind ourselves to the population, see what they are doing, the concerns that exist and how we support government management from the Party” .
With this in mind, the agent, accompanied by Roberto Morales Ojeda, secretary of the Organization and the Politics of Managers, went to the Agramonte district, one of the 43 vulnerable communities in the province, where work is being done to find a solution to old problems.
Among these “aged” problems is the deterioration of the sports facilities of this settlement, where about 2500 people live. It is no coincidence that Díaz-Canel visited the new Recreational Sports Complex, a place abandoned for years and which, thanks to the work of the inhabitants, businesses and institutions, is regaining its vitality. A new room to play chess, a ground for baseball redeemed among all and a gym, are the show of what can be done with minimal resources.
There the Head of State spoke of generating spaces for healthy recreation for children and young people, of involving the population in everything that is done, of also ensuring that the entities rooted in the neighborhood take responsibility for what happens there: the school, cultural institutions, the commerce system, businesses.
Prosperity, he said, will be achieved by working with everyone.
The President, with the inhabitants and local authorities, of the Party and the Government, reached the Consultorio of the constituency, also recently repaired, and was received by Dr. Dayrel Guzmán, who at the age of 26 and in the second year of the specialty, was in charge of watching over the health of the approximately 1400 inhabitants, together with the nurse Nancy Valdés.
Díaz-Canel has taken an interest in COVID-19 vaccinations in the community, in the completed scheme already concluded, as there are only 30 people left who are to receive the reinforcement dose, the nurse in charge said. The doctor informed about the following rural population presenting 24% of hypertension with 565 elderly people. Today, only 3 SARS-CoV-2 positive cases have been counted.
Immunization in the province is up 98.9%, and there is only one severe COVID -19 positive patient in the ICU room. The daily cases remained around a hundred, with a peak of infections only in the municipality of Cabaiguán.
The Head of State visited the community market, where he asked about the stability of offers, prices and service hours, while the queue moved forward to buy tomatoes, sweet potatoes, peppers, onions …
At the corner of a street, the First Secretary spoke with the inhabitants who had crowded to greet him, take pictures with him, talk about the work that has been done for some months.
Under a sun that was strong enough, almost noon, he ensured that in this 2022 the transformations in the communities will continue with more force and will extend to other neighborhoods.
We have worked a lot physically, he said, repairing, redeeming places and we must continue to do so to move forward spiritually, solve social problems and work with families with some dysfunctionality, with those in vulnerable situations. For this we must take advantage of all the forces that exist in the community, the young university students, the students of different teachings, the artists.
“If we manage to combine all our efforts, I believe that we will be able to advance and build faster this prosperity that is present in the Vision of the Nation and that we all want quickly, because we have lived through very complex years, especially the last ones”, underlined the representative. .
What we are doing in the community are not interventions, they are transformations. Nobody comes to tell us what needs to be done. We start from the proposals of the neighbors, to decide among the many accumulated problems for which we go to work at first.
State entities, the public entities of the community, he reiterated, must play the role that corresponds to them.
Díaz-Canel asked the inhabitants to maintain popular control: “that everything that has been proposed and that is being worked on is under your control to ensure that the few resources we have are used well, so that there are no deviations. , to fill the community with beauty “.
