Paul Barjon: “Looking back, it’s still a good week” – Interview

In the last part of The Paul Barjon: “Excited at the idea of getting back into action! "- PGA Tour“>American Express on Sunday, Paul Barjon failed to find the keys to play for the win. The fault of a less efficient game, especially in putting. He nevertheless signed the first top 10 of his career on the PGA Tour.

Golf Planète: Cold and after having somewhat digested the legitimate disappointment of not having really weighed in during the 4th round, what is your assessment of your performance in The American Express? It’s a good top 10 in what was just your 6th tournament on the PGA Tour this season.

Paul Barjon: I am obviously a little disappointed. With hindsight, it still remains a good week with a top 10. I remain happy overall to have been patient and to have had a great solid game all week.

GP: How do you analyze your last lap?

PB : The last lap was a little frustrating with a bit less good ball striking. The putting was a little less good too. I lost a few points stupidly. In the end, I failed to convert my good birdie opportunities. Putting clearly let me down on the last day with less speed control.

GP: Do you have the feeling of having been too conservative on the par 5s on Sunday (4 birdies on the 4 par 5s of the Stadium Course on Saturday) and of having partly lost the title there?

PB : The par 5s were more complicated on the last day with flag positions in the corners and water all over the place. It was necessary to play intelligently and to leave approaches as easy as possible.

I still birdied on the par 5 of the 8, but I missed three meters on the 16 and one meter on the 5. The strategy on the par 5 was correct, but I was not successful .

GP: What is your program for the next few days?

PB : Now I have a three-hour drive to San Diego and I’m on Wednesday for the first round of the Farmers Insurance Open.
