Paul Millsap wants to leave Brooklyn Nets

The Brooklyn Nets and Paul Millsap are set to go their separate ways. Like Shams Charania (The Athletic) reported, the Nets want to find a new team for the oldie.

This is what Brooklyn and Millsap have agreed on. The 36-year-old is keen to take on a bigger role at another team after barely being used at the Nets. Most recently, the former All-Star was absent for personal reasons and has only been used twice in the past 17 games.

Overall, Millsap only played 24 games this season, averaging just 11.3 minutes. The power forward put up only 3.4 points and 3.7 rebounds.

The four-time All-Star arrived from the Denver Nuggets in the summer and just signed a one-year, $2.6 million deal in Brooklyn last summer. The veteran reportedly turned down offers from the Chicago Bulls and the Golden State Warriors. In Brooklyn, however, Millsap never really asserted itself in the crowded front court with LaMarcus Aldridge, Nic Claxton, Blake Griffin or rookie Day’Ron Sharpe.

The Nets will now try to fulfill Millsap’s wish via trade. If that doesn’t happen by February 10th, a buyout could also be an option.
