Peru managed to get a narrow 1-0 win over Colombia in the fight World Cup Qualification Conmebol Zone, Saturday (29/1) early morning WIB.
In that match, Peru lost in terms of ball possession and creation of opportunities. Peru even only recorded one shot on target against Colombia.
But the only shot on target led to the winner for Peru, which was scored by substitute Edison Flores.
The goal was created in the 85th minute. In a counter-attack scheme, Christian Cueva’s breakthrough bait made Flores escape from the control of the Colombian players.
Although the shooting space is relatively narrow, Flores can fire a shot that thrills the Colombian goal.
This victory makes Peru move up to fourth place, shifting Uruguay and Colombia as well as opening the opportunity to qualify for the World Cup. Colombia has now even been evicted to sixth place.
Peru collected 20 points, one point ahead of Uruguay and three points from Colombia. The top four teams will qualify directly for the World Cup while the fifth-placed team will enter a play-off against representatives from other zones.
Peru is currently in a good trend with the success of winning three consecutive wins in the last three World Cup qualifiers. In the next match, Peru will face Ecuador on Wednesday (2/2) WIB, followed by two duels against Uruguay and Paraguay in March.
While in other matches, Venezuela managed to beat Bolivia with a score of 4-1. Venezuelan striker, Jose Salomon Rondon scored a hat trick in this match while Darwin Machis scored the other goal. Meanwhile, Bolivia’s only reply was recorded by Bruno Miranda.

The defeat at the hands of Venezuela made it even more difficult for Bolivia to hope to qualify for the World Cup. Bolivia is still stuck in eighth position with a value of 15 points at this time.
While Venezuela is in the caretaker position with a value of 10 points.
