Philippe Clement wins his first victory with Monaco

Winner 4-0 of Clermont, AS Monaco signed a superb operation at the end of this 21st day of the French championship. Thanks to this ninth success of the season, the first of Philippe Clement, the Rock club finds itself 5th (33 points). Clermont is in 16th position (18 points).

To face Clermont, Clement opted for a 4-2-3-1 system, with Eliot Matazo on the bench. VAR played an important role in an unspectacular first half. At the start of the game, the referee awarded a penalty to Monaco for a foul by Jodel Dossou on Sofiane Diop before reversing his decision (2nd). Shortly before the break, the referee canceled a goal from the same Diop before granting it after the intervention of the video (45th + 2, 1-0).

The Monegasques got off to a better start in the second half and, getting into the game (46th), Wissam Ben Yedder scored twice by popping up at the near post on a cross from Caio Henrique (55th, 2-0) and converting a penalty for a foul committed on him by Ouparine Djoco (62nd, 3-0). Henrique took care of his stats (83rd, 4-0).

With Wout Faes and Thomas Foket starting and Maxime Busi on the bench, Reims lost 0-1 to Metz. The only goal was scored with a header by Ibrahima Niane on a cross from Thomas Delaine from the right. In the standings, Reims is 14th (24 points) and Metz is recovering a little (19 points, 15th).

The match against Montpellier got off to a bad start for Strasbourg and Matz Sels, who were quickly beaten on a close shot from Florent Mollet (11th, 0-1). But the Alsatians took over after the exclusion of Elye Wahi (68th). Majeed Waris, the former FC Porto player, scored his first Ligue 1 goal in his 11th match (75th, 1-1), Adrien Thomasson (84th, 2-1) and Kevin Gameiro (86th, 3-1) allowed Strasbourg (32 points, 7th) to skip Montpellier in the standings (31 points, 8th).
