SANTO DOMINGO.- The Dominican Republic shines once again in the Cooperstown Hall of Fame with the arrival of former baseball player David Ortiz, taking 77.9% of the votes and leaving behind 29 other teammates who were with him in the dispute to reach the finish line.
This Tuesday night, not only the Dominican people have turned out congratulating Big Papi and expressing their pride, but also the political class of the country and the world of national and international sports.
“When a game was lost, he had the ability to take the bat, twist fate and come out triumphant”, were one of the first words expressed by the former president of the Republic, Leonel Fernández, through Twitter, where he highlighted that it is the fourth Dominican to achieve immortality in the Hall of Fame, which fills us with pride.
Comments that are equal in pride and emotion were also expressed by former president Danilo Medina, who through the same social network expressed his most sincere congratulations “to the friend” David Ortiz.
“Our sincere congratulations to friend David Ortiz, Big Papi, on his induction into the Cooperstown Hall of Fame. Knocked it out of the park in the first at-bat! It fills us with pride to already have four Dominican names at the top of world baseball,” he wrote.
For Miguel Vargas, who, like Medina and Fernández, joined the wave of celebration, Big Papi’s professional career is an example of improvement and is what the youth should emulate.
