PSV also misses an important attacking duo in the squatter against Ajax

January 18, 2022PSV coach Roger Schmidt will certainly not have his infirmary empty when he starts forming his line-up against Ajax next weekend. Although the people of Eindhoven will first play in the KNVB Cup against Telstar in midweeks, they are already looking ahead to the absolute topper of next weekend in the Eredivisie.

It Eindhovens Dagblad outlines some of the choices Schmidt will have to make. In the front, however, there is probably still little to choose for the German: Noni Madueke is certainly not there yet against Ajax and is replaced by Ritsu Doan. “Eran Zahavi will certainly not be able to start in the base, because he has been absent for several months,” says the ED, even asking whether the Israeli can sit on the bench. Maximiliano Romero is again the first striker if Carlos Vinicius is still not fit enough.

Furthermore, it could just be that Joey Veerman will make his basic debut in the Eredivisie on behalf of PSV. Last weekend the winter acquisition Marco van Ginkel came in to replace, but this time the roles may be reversed. “Ajax is a team that usually leaves room and Veerman must be able to let his fellow players use them sometimes,” says the morning newspaper about PSV’s midfield. In any case, Ibrahim Sangaré is missing, because he is currently participating in the Africa Cup.

In the back, Armando Obispo impresses as a replacement for André Ramalho. “Finding an affordable option that is better than Armando Obispo and Jordan Teze is going to be tough,” it reads. Furthermore, Mauro Júnior will be the opponent of Antony, because he is currently keeping Philipp Max out of the starting lineup. Olivier Boscagli is undisputed and there is no reason to replace Jordan Teze as right-back, according to the regional medium.
