Syed Modi International: PV Sindhu picked up a dominating victory over Tanya Hemanth to advance to the second round.

Two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu burst into the second round of the Syed Modi International Super 300 tournament with a dominating win over fellow Indian Tanya Hemanth in the women’s singles competition here on Wednesday. The 26-year-old from Hyderabad, who lost in the semi-finals at the India Open Super 500 last week, beat Tanya 21-9 21-9 in a lopsided match at Babu Banarasi Das Indoor Stadium.

A former world champion, Sindhu will face American Lauren Lam, who managed to edge past fighter Ira Sharma 15-21 21-16 21-16.

In another match, Kanika Kanwal of India defeated American Disha Gupta 21-15 16-21 21-6 to also start her campaign with success.
