The joy of many River fans on social networks when they saw Juan Fernando Quintero‘s goal in their team’s friendly against Honduras turned into concern when the 10 was injured before the end of the first half. In an isolated play before 30 minutes, he felt discomfort in his left leg and the doctors attended to him quickly a couple of minutes later, but without delay: it seemed that it was nothing. However, the young Yáser Asprilla kept moving and Reinaldo Rueda sent him onto the pitch at 42′ to replace Juanfer.
In the next few hours, Quintero will arrive in the country to undergo a medical examination -in which it will be observed if he suffered any injury or only left as a precaution- and then sign his contract at the Monumental, which will join him to River for a year with the option of extend it to another. Here awaits the 10 that Jorge Carrascal already left…
It was a shame that Juanfer left the field so early in Colombia’s victory, since he had been playing a great game. If anyone had any doubts about how he was footballing, they had just 45 seconds to clear them up: before the minute he let a ball pass for a teammate and thus clean up the play, he threw a cue and made a change of front with the usual precision of his surgical left hand. Always starting from the right to the middle, he brought accuracy to the passes, united the team and filtered several balls for the two forwards and the full-backs.
Active and always asking for the ball, the talented started and finished the play that ended in Colombia’s first goal: he moved to the middle in the three-quarter zone, received the ball, classily enabled Preciado over the Honduran defense and went to look for the center back to the area, to then define first and at the angle with almost the entire arc at his mercy. The celebration, with a smile from ear to ear, showed his happiness at this very special moment for him.
