After a break of more than a year, he has just made his comeback for Nantes in Ligue 1, striker Jean-Kevin Augustin (24) wants to know again. But his past is still unclear!
RB are demanding €21m from Leeds United for him. In the second half of 2020, the English had an obligation to buy the Leipzig loan player in the event of promotion. Although Leeds have been promoted to the Premier League, the club says the clause is no longer valid because the season lasted longer than the loan contract, which was dated June 30, due to Corona.
In a first negotiation in June last year, Fifa agreed with the cops. But because Leeds appealed the verdict, the case will go before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in March.
Interesting: According to BILD information, RB demands even more than the original amount – five percent interest per year of delay and discount rate. Three installments of EUR 7 million each, due on September 30, were contractually agreed. Of the 7 million euros, RB has to pay training compensation to Augustin’s youth clubs, leaving around 6.7 million euros.
The first installment should have been paid in September 2020 and is one year overdue. So RB demands the 6.7 million euros plus around 340,000 euros in interest.
What’s next? Leeds have almost no chance. The English themselves asked RB at the end of April 2020 to extend the loan and the associated purchase option until the late end of the season (due to Corona). If the judgment is final, the club has 45 days to transfer the first installment. Otherwise there is a transfer ban from Fifa.
