This Saturday, January 22, was singles day at the Finistère Youth Championship in Morlaix. As for the girls, Léa Bégat in minimal, and Agathe Burgaud in younger left favorites. Among the boys, Titouan Veillot minimal, and Hector Delabarre cadet, were considered outsiders. Léa Bégat flew above her category, in the final she met Niobée Bellaubre from Quimperlé. She won in straight sets 6/21; 07/21. Agathe Burgaud, on the other hand, flew over the competition until the last step. As often, a finale has a particular flavor. Stress, the desire to earn too much, what was going on in his head? Her opponent Yaëlle Lemarchand from St Renan Badminton, titillates her from the first set which she lost 15/21. A little more powerful, she narrowly resumed the direction of operations, and won 21/18 in the second set. She won the last decisive set 21/13 and won the final two sets to one.

Among the boys, the Quimpérois outsiders were doing very well. Both met in the final. For Titouan Veillot, who knows his opponent Maxence Quéré de Trégunc well, the task was tough. A fortnight ago, it was the same final at Ploneour-Lanvern where he was beaten 02/21; 02/21. This time the Rose wanted to do much better. Hector Delabarre knew reaching the final would be great. His path was strewn with pitfalls, which he avoided very skilfully. In the final his opponent Nolan Lorinquer from Quimperlé had two higher rankings and his opponent was playing quite well but made a few unforced errors as he had to improve his level of play. That was also how you progress. He lost this final 11/21; 12/21. Sunday makes way for doubles and mixed doubles where the Quimperoises can each achieve a hat-trick…. and our outsiders create the surprise! it is very damaging.
