After a white season due to the Covid, the Bihorel archery club is getting back in the saddle. In particular, volunteers have set up a municipal space for training outdoors, in addition to sessions at the Hébert gymnasium.

Created in 1949, the Bihorel archery club was relaunched in the 1980s. Chaired since 2007 by Pascal Le Guellec, it is part of the Gallia Omnisports Club of Bihorel (GCOB).“I discovered this discipline twenty years ago with my son and I liked it”, he explains.
The section occupies the Hébert gymnasium three times a week. ”
We appreciate this room which is a bit like a cocoon”, emphasizes Pascal Le Guellec. The installation of new LED lighting financed by the club and the City should soon take place. For a little over four years, the section has had a storage room for bows and arrows lent to members who wish, in an extension of the gymnasium.
450 hours of work by volunteers
Since April 2021, the Chapter Archers have also been using land located next to the plots of the allotment gardens. There have been misunderstandings between gardening enthusiasts and archery enthusiasts. But relations are now peaceful between the two parties. “From spring to autumn, this municipal space allows us to shoot fifty meters, even seventy meters, appreciates the president of the sports section. Its development required our volunteers 450 hours of work and was entirely financed by the GCOB archery. »
In terms of staff, the club has around forty members, aged between 10 and over 70, a third of whom are licensees. The 2020-21 season was almost white due to health restrictions linked to Covid-19. Given the uncertainties linked to the pandemic, around ten members did not wish to re-register.
“To practice archery, you need to have good concentration and patience to reproduce the same gesture over and over again, explains Pascal Le Guellec. This sport also allows you to channel those who are overflowing with energy. » The cost of annual membership varies from 74 to 100 euros.
After the competition organized in November which welcomed 170 participants, the Archers of the Chapter will organize Saturday March 19, from 2:30 p.m., at the Hébert gymnasium, the indoor round of the national mixed trophy for Seine-Maritime. The next day, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., initiations will be offered during open houses.
Training at the Hébert gymnasium, Wednesdays at 5 p.m. and 6:45 p.m., as well as Saturdays at 1 p.m. More info on gcob-arc.com
