The Sagittarius class in Expeditions: Rome is essentially an archer. Companions like Julia, as well as any generic Sagittarii you recruit during the campaign, are the only ones who can equip bows. As such, you’ll want them to rain down death from a distance. Just be careful: their projectiles tend to be deflected by shields.
This Expeditions: Rome guide outlines the Sagittarius class skill tree and provides suggestions on the best skills you should focus on for this class. Click on the links below to access specific skill trees or directly to the best Sagittarius skills:
The Sagittarius class skill tree in Expeditions: Rome
The Sagittarius class in Expeditions: Rome has three skill trees: Marksman, Hunter, and Sniper. In each branch, there are tiers that require you to spend a certain number of points (i.e. 0/1/4/7) before you can get new active and passive abilities.
As you progress through the campaign, you’ll likely have enough to unlock the most powerful abilities from a few of these trees. Nonetheless, we will outline the best skills for the Sagittarius class in Expeditions: Rome so you can prepare for the early game experience.
Note that we have also indicated which abilities are active (A) and passive (P). Likewise, we added if certain skills have requirements or if they have additional ranks or levels.
Sagittarius Marksman Class Skills
Level 1
- Interrupt (A; 2 ranks) — Applies the interrupt state (i.e. Overwatch); shoot an enemy moving in a frontal cone. The improved version increases the area covered by the frontal cone.
- Point Blank (P) – +100% critical strike chance against adjacent enemies.
Level 2
- Vigilant (P; requires interrupt) – Interrupt can attack two targets before ending.
- Rebuke (Q; 2 ranks) – Inflicts damage and knocks the target away from you; double damage if upgraded.
Level 3
- Gracing Shot (A; 2 ranks) – Applies grace, where your next attack deals slashing damage; +50% slash damage if upgraded.
- Powerful Kick (P; 2 ranks; requires scolding): the scolding will knock down a target; you receive the tactical effect (i.e. avoid triggering attacks of opportunity) if it is upgraded.
Level 4
- Steady Hands (P) – +100% critical hit chance for all ranged reaction shots (i.e. Interrupt and Overwatch).
- Overwatch (A) – Whenever an enemy attacks an ally within 6 hexes, you will automatically shoot that enemy. Can only target each enemy once per turn.
Sagittarius Hunter Class Skills
Level 1
- Rapid Fire (Q) – Shoot two targets with -30% accuracy and +30% miss chance.
- Versatile (P; 2 Ranks) – Performing an attack grants Versatility; ranged attacks enhance melee attacks, and vice versa. The upgraded version increases damage by +50%.
Level 2
- Decoy (Q) — Prevents a target from taking cover.
- Skirmisher (P; requires Versatile) – Versatile has a 100% critical strike chance if the previous attack was a killing blow.
Level 3
- Pinned Shots (P; 3 ranks)—All ranged hits within 2/4/6 hexes apply paralyzed (ie -50% movement).
- Arrow Stab (A) – Stab an adjacent target for half damage and inflict bleeding; the target is also stunned if already flanked.
Level 4

- Find Weakness (P) – Your ranged attacks apply Bleed, Weakened, or Harassed.
Sagittarius Sharpshooter Class Skills
Level 1
- Ranged Fire (A)—Applies pointed to specific at a radius of 2 hexes; Ranged attacks against targets deal full damage regardless of distance.

Level 2

- Mark Target (Q; 2 ranks) – Marks a target; the next ranged attack against them will deal double/250% damage.

- Walk Your Shots (P; 3 rangs) – +2/4/6 plage optimale.
Level 4

- Assist (Q)—Your target provokes an attack of opportunity as if it had moved.
Best Skills for Sagittarius Class in Expeditions: Rome
We found that the best skills for the Sagittarius class in Expeditions: Rome include the following:
Scorer
Interrupt is basically the “overwatch” command you love in tactical games like XCOM. Additionally, Vigilant and Steady Hands can turn your archer into a killing machine. Even better, once you have the Eurytus Bow from the Temple of Apollo, your final hits with Interrupt allow you to keep firing.
The Overwatch skill, on the other hand, helps when a teammate near you is attacked multiple times. Ideally, you’ll want to remove the fodder first (the ones with pawn icons) so you can have additional actions. Then, end your turn by activating Interrupt or Overwatch, so you’ll continue killing opponents during their turn.
hunter
Barrage is an amazing skill to have. Unfortunately, the rest of the skills in this tree are disappointing. They are either situational or they rely more on crowd control. Still, you can recruit a generic high-level Sagittarius with Barrage already unlocked. Fortunately, they also have Interrupt/Vigilant and Marksman.
Sniper
Marksman is a decent passive. However, you’ll probably want the level 3 and 4 abilities like Eagle Eye, Walk Your Shots, and Sixteen Ground. We just suggest looking for a high-level generic Sagittarius who also has Interrupt and Vigilant unlocked.
