Rosy Urbina launches a basketball clinic in Tapachula

TAPACHULA, Chis., January 26, 2022.- The municipal president of Tapachula, Rosa Irene Urbina Castañeda, launched the basketball clinic for children, youth and adults that the director of the National Basketball Team, Omar Quintero Pereda , teaches in the Alejandro Córdova auditorium.

Accompanied by the director of the Sports Institute in the State of Chiapas, Tania Valeria Robledo Velázquez, Urbina Castañeda, highlighted the professional career of Omar Quintero and thanked him for his visit “to promote a sport with a long tradition in Tapachula, a discipline that we are promoting from the City Council for its importance for the healthy development of youth”.

The mayor, prior to the delivery of a recognition by the Municipal Government to the Mexican coach, said that the governments of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and Governor Rutilio Escandón Cadenas are working for the new generations, with programs that expand development opportunities for achieve social inclusion and prevention of violence.
“I am sure that the sports clinics and motivational talks that Omar will offer in the following days will be essential for the better preparation and training of those who practice basketball, but also for more girls, boys and young people from Tapachulte to join their practice,” she said. Urbina Castaneda.
For her part, the director of the Sports Institute in the state, Tania Valeria Robledo Velázquez, upon declaring the basketball clinic inaugurated, recognized the commitment that the City Council, chaired by Rosa Irene Urbina Castañeda, has with sports as a fundamental axis for the integration, inclusion and social development of the Tapachultecs.

Meanwhile, the director of the National Basketball Team, Omar Quintero Pereda, thanked the municipal and state authorities, businessmen, sponsors, fans and parents for their welcome, who gathered at the Alejandro Córdova auditorium and urged the children , girls and adolescents to become professionals in sports, healthy living, integration and teamwork, to be better citizens of a great country.

The municipal president was accompanied by the municipal trustee, Santiago Ancheita Calderón, councilor Erik Hintze Moreno, the former national basketball team, Elsa Hayashi, Mauricio Cerecedo Zárate of the Chiapas basketball team, Adolfo López Castro, president of the Municipal League of Basketball, among other special guests.
