January 30, 2022 – Feyenoord strengthened itself this week with Jorrit Hendrix. The former PSV player is taken over from Spartak Moscow on a rental basis, where he never managed to play in the base. In Russia, people are certainly not mourning the departure of the midfielder.

“Thank God Hendrix has moved to Feyenoord”, former international Roman Shirokov started in conversation with Sport-Express. He wasn’t just referring to Hendrix’s qualities. He also stated that it was good that his position – in Russia clubs are only allowed to have eight foreigners in the selection – is freed up for other foreign players. “It’s hard to judge a player when he plays so little, but he hasn’t added anything special here.”
Alexandr Mostovoy also calls Hendrix’s departure a good thing and initially did not understand why Spartak brought him to Russia. “That was already strange”, he began to the Russian Euro-Football. No one knew him or had even heard of him. He barely got into action and was clearly having a hard time here. Even when the team was not running, his role did not change. I don’t think it’s a big deal if he leaves. It is good for all parties: he also wants to play himself.”
“What is annoying is that players come from the Netherlands, earn a lot of money here and then return there on a rental basis,” Mostovoy continued. “Hendrix is not an exceptional case in this.” He pointed to the other player that Feyenoord hires from Spartak Moscow, Guus Til. “They have deposited an even greater sum for him.”
