RWDM is certainly the first pursuer of leader Lommel“>Westerlo until Sunday. It put Lommel aside 2-0 at home. At RWDM it was the first game of Igor De Camargo, who recently came over from KV Mechelen.
On a field that is difficult to play on, Igor De Camargo contributed to the breakthrough for RWDM. Just before the break, Claes and De Camargo combined beautifully and that resulted in a penalty kick after a foul on Claes. Rommens converted it: 1-0.
Lommel tried to turn the tide after the break, but it didn’t get any further than a shot in front of Sales and in the final phase Lommel got the lid on his nose.
On a counter-attack, Nzuzi was guided through the offside trap and he decided the game 2-0. Thanks to the win, RWDM jumps (for the time being) over Waasland-beveren to second place. The victory was celebrated exuberantly with some fans who had gathered at the stadium gate.
