San Lorenzo and Quimsa animate the final of the Argentine Basketball Super Cup

San Lorenzo, winner of the last National League (LNB), and Quimsa de Santiago del Estero, winner of the Super 20, will star in the third edition of the Argentine Basketball Super Cup on Saturday.

The decisive match will take place at the Templo del Rock stadium, belonging to the Obras Basket club, starting at 6:30 p.m. The locations will be sold from a value of 1,200 pesos.

Boedo’s team was champion in the last five editions of the National League, while his pair from Santiago was a finalist in the last one and won the so-called Super 20 at the end of last year.

“We are in a different stage, it is a more modest team. What is certain is that we will not stop competing,” said Alvaro Castiñeira, coach of the “azulgrana” cast, who went through a complex health situation a week ago, having been infected with coronavirus 22 members of the squad, coaching staff, staff and direct collaborators.

San Lorenzo accumulates in this regular phase of the LNB a balance of 9 wins and 8 losses.

“Our key will be to try to lower the scoring, when we can ‘run the field’ and defend, basically. We trust that -with our weapons- we can complicate what, today, is the best team in the country”, summed up the DT of the “Cyclone”, in a chat with Télam

For its part, the quintet from Santiago, which has just defeated Hispano Americano de Río Gallegos 89-70, is the provisional leader of the classification, with a 14-3 record.

The escort of the “Fusion”, the tucuman Iván Gramajo, indicated that he does not take “as a revenge” the fact of facing the team that snatched the LNB title from him in mid-2021, after a tight final that it was resolved 3-2.

“I don’t take it as a revenge; we are in another stage. Yes, we will face the two best teams in the country last year and beating San Lorenzo is always important, because it is the club that has dominated the competition in recent years,” he said. the former Lanús and Ferro player, 25, who works as a shooting guard.

San Lorenzo won the first two editions of the Super Cup: in 2016 it beat Regatas Corrientes in the final, while the following year it defeated the other representative from Corrientes, San Martín.
