Sandra Buliņa took 58th place in the 7.5 km sprint on Saturday and qualified as the last to drive, but her twin sister Sandra remained in 66th position. On Sunday, Buliņa started driving almost four minutes behind the German woman Selina Grotiana, who won the sprint.
The Latvian again had an unsuccessful shooting, making two mistakes in the first line of fire, four in the next, and one in the next two. She lost eight minutes and 51.7 seconds to Grotiana, who won the race, giving her 51st place out of 54 biathletes who finished.
Grotiana made two mistakes in shooting, finishing in 23 minutes and 45.5 seconds. Also, two penalty laps were scored by second-place winner Jeanne Richards from France, who lost 25.5 seconds, and one unshot goal was bronze medalist Lisa Maria Spark from Germany, who was 34.5 seconds slower.
It has already been reported that Buliņas also showed a modest performance in shooting in the individual distance. Sanita Buliņa even had the fastest skiing time, but seven unopened goals prevented her from fighting for a high-quality result.
Latvia was not represented in the men’s competition, because before going to Pokļuki local biathletes had the status of contact persons.
