SGSC Badminton: conviviality, the key to success

After a lackluster 2020-2021 season, Saint-Gély Saint-Clément Badminton has found a number of licensees equivalent to that pre-Covid: 147, making it the fourth club in the department.

The SGSC Badminton took the opportunity to recruit a second professional coach, Théo Duluc. He appreciates the good spirit and friendliness of the club, which regularly organizes thematic evenings for charity, as recently for Pink October or the Telethon.

If the players train in a good mood, the results are no less good: the four adult teams involved in departmental interclubs have had a very good start to the season, winning almost all their matches.

During its traditional bear tournament last November, which attracted 180 registered players, the club even saw six of its teams win one of the 17 tables, and nine others reach the final. Young licensees (8-17 years old) are not left out. Three teams successfully participate in the youth interclubs of the Hérault. To date, the Cadets are undefeated. These competitions have been entirely mixed for a year, a unique feature in France and which has aroused great enthusiasm.

Théo Duluc sees it as a way of changing representations in this sport: “The boys learn to play, to win but also to lose against the girls. It boosts everyone!

Faster and less physical than tennis,”badminton is a sport that is good for the head and the body “, he adds. Registration remains open all year round.
