Soriano badminton stands out in the Senior National Master

The Burgense Esther Pereira became one of the most outstanding players of the competition with two medals in the two doubles modalities. A specialist in this modality, Esther won gold in the women’s double with Jennifer Fernández from Palencia and in mixed double with the player from Valladolid, Jorge Velázquez.

The second victory came from the couple from Soria who form Manuel Acero and Santiago Martinez. The Sorianos prevailed in the B2 category, defeating the locals Enrique Balsategui and José Vergara in the final. This result will place the Sorianos in the first position of the national ranking. Santiago Martínez, in the men’s singles category, would reach the semifinals of the same category.

Víctor Ortega in A1 won a double medal, Hanging the silver medal in both the men’s singles and doubles. On his return to a senior category master’s degree, Víctor was close to winning gold, mainly in the men’s doubles with José Miranda from Jaén.

Similar performance would David Hernansanz, with the silver medal obtained in individual and the bronze in double male, both in category A2. In one of the most remarkable matches of the competition, he gave up the victory in singles by a result of 21-18 in the third set.

On the other hand, the youngest members of the Soria-CS24 Badminton Club disputed another National Master, in this case for sub13 and sub17 categories, in the Extremaduran town of Villanueva de la Vera. The five Soria present, accused the few weeks of training and not developing their best version. Javier Barrios was able to overcome the group phase until falling in the quarterfinal round of the sub17 category. A similar path would be followed by his teammate, Daniel Marin, who in the sub-13 category, was left at the gates of access to the semifinals.
