Sports festival kicks off on three fronts

Starting this Friday at Veracruz-Boca del Río conurbation, will start the first stage of the Veracruz State Games 2022, with a participation of 240 athletes distributed in the disciplines of tennis, table tennis and judo.

The activity of the so-called sport will take place on the courts of the Palmas Racquet Club; judo in the Arena Veracruz and table tennis in the “Benito Juárez” auditorium.

Tennis

Starting at 08:00 hours this Friday, the activity will begin in the Palmas Racquet Club, where 13 players have registered in category 14 for men and 17 for women.

In addition, 15 players in the men’s 16th and 11 more in the women’s for a total of 56 players. The champions that emerge from these official categories go directly to the 2022 National Games.

The rest will come from the selective that will be held on February 4 and 5 at the Britania Sport Center, where the champions of that tie will be the number two of categories 14 and 16 in men’s and women’s.

Judo

The judo discipline will take place starting this Friday and will bring together 142 athletes, 17 coaches, eight judges and two assistants; Athletes will be tested for Covid-19 antigens at the host hotel.

The competition will take place on Saturday, January 29 from 10:00 a.m. at the Arena Veracruz, and judokas from municipalities such as Xalapa, Coatzacoalcos, Minatitlán, Veracruz, Ciudad Mendoza and Córdoba, Boca del Río will take part.

Table tennis

The tennis players will have as a stage the facilities of the “Benito Juárez” Auditorium, where 42 athletes from municipalities such as Córdoba, Xalapa, Coatepec, Boca del Río and Veracruz will take part.

The competition will start on Saturday, January 29 at 10:00 a.m. and 12 official table tennis tables were set up. The activity will conclude on Sunday January 30 with the finals of each category and branch.

Prevention

According to what the Veracruz Sports Institute reported, due to the current contingency, there will be no public access to the sports venues, with the aim of avoiding COVID-19 infections.

They stated that it was a joint decision between the organizing committee in coordination with the state technical commission and the State Sports Associations.
