Sporty drama for Heerenveen goalkeeper Mulder in the run-up to FC Twente

On Saturday evening, not Erwin Mulder, but Xavier Mous will defend SC Heerenveen‘s goal. Trainer Johnny Jansen has chosen to turn the tables at the start of the second half of the season. Mous is now the first goalie and Mulder has to settle for a place on the bench.

A personal drama for the goalkeeper who was appointed as the first captain at the start of the season. That band is now transferred to midfielder Tibor Halilovic, who is the new captain of the Frisians.

Mous made the transfer-free transfer from PEC Zwolle to sc Heerenveen last summer. The goalkeeper rarely managed to convince the people of Zwolle, which he did in the 2018-2019 season while working for sc Cambuur.

This season Mulder injured his hand in the match against FC Twente. It was Daan Rots who hit the goalkeeper, after which Mulder was left behind in the dressing room with a broken thumb. Since then Mous has played all matches and to the satisfaction of trainer Johnny Jansen.

Mulder is now fit again, and he could have made his comeback against FC Twente. Unfortunately for the 32-year-old goalkeeper, Jansen decided to take away his number 1 status and pass it on to Mous. He will try to keep his goal clean in the Grolsch Veste on Saturday with Mulder as a spectator from the dug-out.
