Summoned from the Colombian national team to face Peru and Argentina

Several surprises occurred in the call for the Colombia selection for matches against Peru, in Barranquilla, and Argentina, as a visitor, for South American Qualifier Heading to the World Cup in Qatar.

Among the names that appear on the list of footballers cited by the Caleño coach Reinaldo Rueda appear Miguel Angel Borgia, who is already habitual, and Fredy Hinestroza, another Junior player, and who is one of the biggest new additions to the list.

Next to them, the cucuteño player James Rodriguez, who did not perform in the last game of his team, Qatar’s Al-Rayyan, was also cited.

The bad news is that Antioquia midfielder Juan Fernando Quintero, who was injured in last Sunday’s friendly against Honduras, will not be available due to this inconvenience.

Two other novelties are the calls of the youthful Yaser Asprilla, who was bought by Watford from England, and Harold Preciado, the last kicker in Colombian soccer.

Some athletes who were not taken into account for these matches, despite being part of the last calls, were Víctor Cantillo, Carlos Cuesta and Yairo Moreno, who left good feelings in the minutes they were on the pitch.

Goalkeeper David Ospina, who was recently replaced in a Napoli game with a muscle problem, is in the squad and is likely to be the starting goalkeeper for the clashes.

Duván Zapata, for his part, was unable to recover from an injury that he was dragging on, so the helmsman Rueda did not call him to be part of these definitive commitments that ‘la Amarilla’ will have.
