Zwerm is a Belgian-Dutch avant-garde guitar rock band that was founded in 2007.[1]
The band debuted in 2013 with the album Underwater Princess Waltz (A Collection Of One-Page Pieces), which brought interpretations of songs that actually consist of 1 page of music. The album featured songs by Joel Ford, Alvin Curran, Nick & Leo Didkovsky, Christian Wolff, Larry Polansky, Clinton McCallum, Daniel Goode, Earle Brown, and Karl H. Berger.[2][3] At the accompanying live concerts, Zwerm was assisted by Eric Thielemans.
The album Badminton in Tehran from 2018 was produced by Mauro Pawlowski.[4] The album’s title came about after members saw two women in hijab playing badminton in a park in Tehran.[5] In the album the members try to bring the element of ‘groove’ into the music.[6]
For the 2021 album Great Expectations, they collaborated with drummer Karen Willems, which resulted in a new approach to the music.[7][8]
