Ice jumping Olympic champion Simone Amann will compete in her seventh winter games after being called up to the Swiss team for Beijing on Tuesday.
The 40-year-old is the only ski jumper to have won double gold in both individual titles – normal hill and large hill – at the 2002 and 2010 Olympic Games.
He will also be the first Swiss to take part in seven games. Japan’s figure skater Noriaki Kasai has competed in eight Olympics, while Finland’s Jan Ahonen has competed in seven.
“Simon Amann is an exceptional phenomenon in Swiss sport and we are delighted to welcome him to the Swiss Olympic team for the seventh time,” Swiss Chef de Mission Ralph Stockley said in a statement.
Four-time cross-country champion Dario Cologne will take part in the fourth games.
2014 Giant Parallel Skating Champion Patricia Comer has also been confirmed on the team.
The 34-year-old said last week she was leaving early for Beijing to complete the mandatory three-week quarantine period for unvaccinated visitors.
“After my personal decision not to vaccinate, quarantine is the logical consequence,” she said in a statement from Swiss Ski on January 11.
“I respect the regulations of the authorities and the IOC. Now I want to concentrate fully on my sporting goals at the Olympic Games in Beijing.”
