In the first leg of the semi-finals in the League Cup, Liverpool was unable to distance themselves from Arsenal at home. However, the Gunners played with their tens for a long time after the exclusion of Granit Xhaka.
Both teams played at full strength and made clear their intentions to make it to the final from the kick-off. Arsenal’s Granit Xhaka was a bit too eager. Halfway through the 1st half, the Swiss planted his foot on Diogo Jota’s chest, red was the justified verdict.
But even with one more man, Liverpool couldn’t compete with Arsenal, who had already seen Soares out with an injury before Xhaka’s red card.
We had to wait for danger from the home team until after the break. Minamino had some chances, but couldn’t get the ball into the net. In between, Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson had to save a shot by Saka.
However, in the end it remained at 0-0 and so it remains exciting for the return game. That will be completed in a week on the field of Arsenal. The winner will face Chelsea in the final.
