The Rafa Nadal Tour by Santander has opted for the island of Gran Canaria to be one of the venues in 2022 for this youth solidarity tennis circuit that the Majorcan tennis player promoted in 2014 for the benefit of the Rafa Nadal Foundation.
The circuit, which is coming to the Canary Islands for the first time, will be held at the Cortijo Club de Campo facilities from February 19 to 27, in the sub-12, sub-14 and sub-16 categories, both for women and men, for which that registration will open on February 2, as reported by the organization in a press release.
This event will bring together tennis players between the ages of 6 and 11 who will travel to Gran Canaria to compete in what is considered one of the “most important current” youth tennis circuits, since only last year received more than 1,900 entries from up to 55 different nationalities.
The Rafa Nadal Tour by Santander was created with the aim of completing the sports competition for young tennis players with an educational aspect, in such a way that in each of the tournaments, and parallel to the competition, activities and dynamics are carried out that They aim to encourage players with fundamental values for their personal and sporting development.
In this sense, it includes among its awards a ‘Trophy of Values’, with which the players of the tournament are rewarded for their attitude and positive behavior both on and off the court, in addition to having a charitable character because the total of its profits goes to the Rafa Nadal Foundation, which has been working in Spain and India for more than 10 years to promote integration, as well as the personal and social development of children and young people through sport.
Barcelona, Seville, Valencia, Bilbao and Madrid complete the list of cities on the 2022 calendar. The seven best classified in each category, as well as the four winners of the ‘Trophy of Values’ will compete at the end of November in a master’s degree to be held in Mallorca at the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar.
