“We would like to congratulate Atalanta and Inter for an entertaining and tight football match.” wrote Napoli in his tease which later got over 3000 retweets and 10,000 likes when this article was made.
What Napoli did is indeed quite rare in the accounts of other European football teams. If it’s an English-language branch account that does it, it’s still quite reasonable because it’s done to get a wider interaction.
However, Napoli issued the statement via their Italian language account. Then their English account followed a few moments later but it didn’t go viral.
Previously, Venezia had also done the same thing, but praise was only given to the team that faced them and not other matches. So what Napoli did is quite unique.
There are those who think that Napoli actually only wrote sarcastic tweets to hide their relief. With only one point achieved by Atalanta and Inter, then their position remains safe in third place.
With Inter topped the standings, Napoli are seven points apart. Meanwhile Atalanta failed to overtake them and only cut the distance to one point (43:42).
