Dean’s Club in France, the Dieppe badminton club almost disappeared few months ago.
The current management team then announced its intention to stop, appealing to possible buyers.
The message was heard by several people including Débora Collin who has since become the president
I had and still have my daughter who plays badminton. During an information meeting in September 2019, it seemed inconceivable to me that there would be no more club in Dieppe. Other people agreed with me and in particular two other women with whom we now form the steering committee. Thus, Léa Maret became treasurer and Khanh Nguyen the secretary, both also being players and participating in the supervision of young people.
Young people in competition
The three new leaders will then compensate for a logical lack of experience in the management of a sports association by motivation and constant investment.
Following rumors that would have evoked the disappearance of the club, many players have left and it is therefore necessary to do with a small workforce.
However, as soon as they have fulfilled the administrative obligations and are officially dismissed, the young badists take part in competitions quickly while the adults still present rather indulge in free play.
Unfortunately in March 2020, everything stops … with the Covid.
You must therefore take your trouble patiently and this will be the case during the two confinements.
Debora Colin explains further:
In particular, we made a case before giving up the municipal subsidy, the collective interest taking precedence over that of our association. However for the new year, we hope this time to have a subsidy from the City of Dieppe because we have voluntarily lowered the rates of contributions due to the health crisis and with what we pay to the authorities, there is not much left. . In addition, in recent weeks, we have felt an influx of new licensees so that morale is high.
So currently, the Dieppe badminton club has 36 licensees, 15 adults which practically for the greater part in free play – except two which play in competition – and 21 children.
The latter are, according to the president, thirsty to learn and to play in competition.
Also, the decision was taken at the start of the recruit a qualified trainer to take care of young people.
It is Loïc Culleron and under his leadership, the training sessions are complete and the work is bearing fruit with significant progress for the young badists.
Organize an interclub
Débora Collin is therefore a president filled with many reasons for satisfaction:
The sports festival in Dieppe, an Olympic effect, word of mouth, there are many reasons to explain this current boom and it is always possible to join us from the age of six. We hope to finally have a real season and I would like to thank the nearby clubs, in particular Luneray and Longueville, who helped us to function well at the start. Now, we would like to organize an interclub both to promote the city and to showcase our club. This is our big project by the end of the season.
Trainings take place on Mondays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., for adults at the gymnasium of Camus college in Neuville-lès-Dieppe. Wednesday from 6.15 p.m. to 8 p.m. for children at the gymnasium of Ango high school and at the same place, Thursday from 6.30 p.m. to 9 p.m. for adults in free play.
Those interested, young or old, can come and try a workout directly.
