As part of the next Roland-Garros, which will take place from May 16 to June 5, the French Tennis Federation is renewing, from January 24, the operation now called “Destination Roland-Garros”.
Roland-Garros is already on the horizon for French tennis. Such a deadline pushes the FFT to renew the “Destination Roland-Garros” operation. This system, set up by the National Technical Department, will make it possible to allocate, via two different circuits (France and international), two invitations for each main draw (ladies and gentlemen) as well as two invitations for each qualification draw (ladies and gentlemen) of Roland-Garros. The French players, who obtain the best results in a series of professional tournaments played in France (French circuit), will have the opportunity to obtain a wild card for the main draw or for the qualifications of Roland -Garros.
A real race for points
Among the ladies, this circuit, which has 11 ITF or WTA tournaments, will begin on January 24 with the Andrézieux-Bouthéon tournament (W60). The first stage of the French men’s circuit, made up of 7 Challengers tournaments, will take place in Quimper, also from January 24. The performances of French players on the international circuit will also allow them to win invitations for the Parisian Grand Slam. The ATP Race to Torino and WTA Race rankings of Monday May 9, 2022 will indeed be taken into account to award a wild card for each main draw (ladies and men) and each qualification draw (ladies and men). The FFT will also apply this process for French players in the context of the Roland-Garros junior tournament. Two wild cards will be issued for each main draw of the tournament (boys and girls), via two separate circuits (France and international).
