the Italian Indoor Para Archery Championships in Macerata

Macerata, elected European City of Sport 2022, will host the first federal event of the new archery season. The Italian Indoor Para-Archery Championships will be hosted at the Palasport Fontescodella on 29 and 30 January.

THE COMPETING CATEGORIES

The championship will see on the shooting line almost 80 archers from all over Italy, belonging to the Ricurvo Open, Compound Open, W1 and Visually Impaired 1 and 2/3 categories who will compete for the class titles at the end of the 60 qualifying arrows. and, subsequently, they will be engaged in direct clashes over 18 meters away that will give away the absolute Italian individual titles.
Due to covid-19, the team matches will not be played in Macerata which, starting from 2022, will see an important regulation change wanted by the International Federation: the team competition with the male and female trio will be replaced by the “double” , which provides for two athletes per team instead of three. This type of competition will support the mixed team competition with head to head starting from April 1st.

THE BLUES OF TOKYO ON THE FIELD

On the competitive side it will be an unmissable event since the athletes of the National Para-Archery will be competing. The protagonists of Tokyo 2020 will all be on the shooting line to compete for the Italian titles after the successes obtained at Yumenoshima Park Archery Field, where Italy won at least one podium for the tenth consecutive edition, thanks to Enza Petrilli’s individual curved silver. , the curved mixed team silver of Elisabetta Mijno and Stefano Travisani and the compound individual bronze of Maria Andrea Virgilio.
The appointment in Macerata is particularly important because the Azzurri will have the opportunity to confront each other in view of the calls for the Outdoor World Championships in Dubai which, in the middle of winter, will see the Azzurri compete in the Arab Emirates over long distances. In fact, in recent months, the training of the National team has alternated between indoor and outdoor.
