The Pavillon des Seigneurs declared a total loss

A fire broke out in the afternoon at the Pavillon des Seigneurs in the Trois-Rivières, an accessible city? – The Weekly Journal”>Pointe-du-Lac sector. The blaze ravaged the building which is officially a total loss.

This is a heavy loss for the Pointe-du-Lac sector, but also for all of Trois-Rivières, underlines Mayor Jean Lamarche.

“It was an extremely important community center, located near a school where there are many students. The Pavillon des Seigneurs was very popular with people of all ages. It’s a big loss for Trois-Rivières. It is an establishment that I attended when I was young because I played baseball for the Seigneurs of Pointe-du-Lac. I went to Golden Age and Pauper’s Christmas activities there… It’s a building that was well established in the community and very useful. It will have to be rebuilt,” he says.

The municipal administration is already beginning to evaluate different options for the future. In particular, it will be necessary to find an alternative for the day camps since the building was used for this purpose, as well as to relocate the organizations affected.

A dozen organizations were based there or used the premises: the Alcoholics Anonymous of the Visitation of Pointe-du-Lac and of District 89-22, the seniors of Pointe-du-Lac, the FADOQ – Scrabble affiliated with the seniors of Pointe-du-Lac, L’Eau Vive watercolourists, the Saint-Maurice Scout District, the Rendez-vous of the woodsmen, the Mauricie ostomates association, the Trois-Rivières Sound Band and the Cercle de farmers. The pavilion also hosted evening classes at the Saint-Arnaud pavilion.

“We have to analyze our options. There is the Michel Veillette pavilion nearby too. We are looking at what we can do to move certain activities, but it is still early to give details,” adds Annie Pagé, Deputy Director General – Proximity at the City of Trois-Rivières.

A period of accommodation will be necessary before rebuilding, specifies the City.

Note that the ice rink on the site is temporarily closed. The City is evaluating the possibility of installing a construction trailer there as a place to put on your skates, but nothing has yet been confirmed on this side.

At the start of the evening, it was still too early to have an idea of ​​the cause of the blaze.
