The change period will end shortly. Reason enough for the Remscheider TV judo team to step on the gas pedal in their efforts to get more reinforcements. With a mixture of joy and pride, manager Cedric Pick now announced: “We’ve succeeded in another transfer coup.” Alexander Wieczerzak will strengthen the promoted team in the first Bundesliga season, which begins on April 2nd with an away match in Hamburg. The 30-year-old, who competes in the class up to 90 kilograms, comes from the German runner-up KSV Esslingen and can look back on a very exciting CV. Wieczerzak lives in Cologne, trains there at the Olympic base and became world champion in Budapest in 2017. Not his only triumph in recent years: EM bronze in 2015 and World Cup bronze in 2018 are also mega successes. It is understandable that Cedric Pick speaks of a “big deal” in connection with his commitment. He had “dredging” for nine months before an agreement was reached. “There must have been ten phone calls and 15 WhatsApps,” said Pick. The newcomer is looking forward to his job in Remscheid: “The team is strong and can play a good role in the Bundesliga. The professional structures are impressive.” His big goal: the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. on
