The Russian men’s biathlon team wins the relay relay during the World Cup

Russian biathletes won the sixth stage of the World Cup in the 4 × 7.5 km relay race on Saturday in Rupolding.

Thanks to Sean Doherty, the first stage was unexpectedly completed by the United States, ahead of Italy and Russia.

After the second relay, Italy took the lead, followed by Dominik Windis. The closest followers were Ukraine and France.

The third stage was completed by Russia, represented by Alexander Loginov. This was followed by Belarus and Germany.

In the last stage, the victory for Russia was held by Maxim Tsvetkov, finishing in 11 minutes and 6.1 seconds. At the shooting range, the Russians needed four spare cartridges.

Germany took second place, seven seconds behind the winners in the shooting range.

Third place went to Belarus, which lost 23 seconds with six “poodle” neighbors.

The next places were taken by Italy, France, which already earned a penalty lap in the first shooting, and Ukraine.

Lithuania took the 17th place and Estonia the 19th place.

Teams from 24 countries started, among which there were no Latvians, because Latvian biathletes have the role of contact persons with Covid-19.

In the World Cup season, the leaders in three of the five competitions with 156 points are Norwegian. The same number, but the second place is taken by Russia, 148 points were scored by France. Latvian biathletes with 26 points in the relay rank 26th among 27 teams.
