Ben Simmons‘ future in the NBA remains undefined and the Philadelphia 76ers are waiting for an offer that meets their demands to trade him before the deadline. One of the teams that could make a bet on his contract is the Minnesota Timberwolves, who would seek to add one more star.
To complete a deal between the two organizations, D’Angelo Russell must be included in the trade package as a centerpiece, along with Josh Okogie and at least two future first-round NBA Draft picks.
This would meet the Sixers’ requirement to add a young star and also ensure the future renewal of the team with the selection of future top prospects. There would be salary balance, thus adjusting to the requirements by the NBA for transactions.
Perhaps the biggest impediment to making the deal would be the passable level the Minnesota Timberwolves have shown this season, in a game system centered around Russell, Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns. Interrupting its evolution could be quite harmful for a team that for the first time seems to find stability.
