The works in the Sports City are advancing at a good pace after a “turning point” for Huelva sport in 2021 | Huelva24

The delegate has stated that 2021 “It has been a turning point for sport in the province of Huelva, the window that has put us in the showcase of the whole world”. Under the umbrella of ‘Andalusia European Sports Region’, the Delegation of Education and Sports in Huelva has collaborated in the organization of 33 sporting events and ambitious sports programs have been developed such as the Educational Center for Sports Excellence (CEEDA), Siempre Competitivos, Liga Educate en el Deporte and Mentor 10.

At the level of subsidies and aid, those granted to clubs and federations for the Promotion of Sport, the Program for the adaptation of trails for sports use and the Infrastructure Plan, with the works of construction of the new indoor pool in the Sports City as a great star.

The development of the badminton world championships (senior and absolute) has been the culmination of a year full of activities. The celebration of a badminton World Tour event served as a rehearsal. It has collaborated in the organization of the Andalusian and Spanish Championships in various sports modalities, both of the highest category and of Grassroots Sports. The Andalusian Athletics, Climbing, Archery, Badminton and Canoeing Championships also stand out; the Spanish junior women’s basketball championship, the national ones for regional children’s and cadet Basketball and Badminton teams, the Copa del Rey de Tenis, among others, which have put Huelva in the spotlight of world sport.

To help the associative fabric of clubs and promote the work of the different sports federations, the eligible concepts have been increased and the Red de Ganadores patronage program has been shaped, which will be convened again for 2022. This initiative helps and recognizes companies that link their social action to the values ​​of sport, since “investing in sport is investing in a better society”, the delegate of the branch has apostilled.

On the other hand, the collaboration with the Local Entities, covered by the Senderos Plan, will allow the adaptation of numerous natural spaces that will serve so that events such as the cycling race ‘The Legend of Tartessos, by having more usable sections and greater security.

Works in the Sports City

For its part, the works of the Sports City of Huelva are being developed according to the planned deadlines. The first phase includes the construction of the covered swimming pool, so demanded by the people of Huelva. Tasks initials, already concluded, They have consisted of the demolition of the previous building, removal, management and recycling of all waste. The land is conditioned at 43% and the foundation is at 6%.

Five months after the start of the project, work with a budget of 5,693,017.35 in this first stage, at the end of December 10 percent of the works had already been executed. Apart from the indoor pool, a new gym will be built, the exterior spaces of the building and the climbing wall will be refurbished. The overall budget is close to 12 million euros.

In this line, Estela Villalba has celebrated the fulfillment of the deadlines and has indicated that “the construction of first level sports facilities is a key factor to improve the technification and performance of our athletes”.
