The WBSC Executive Board has approved the provisional calendar of international events in the year 2022 for Baseball, Softball and Baseball5. Notwithstanding, as the president of the world federation Riccardo Fraccari said, that “Yes, it is important to maintain our business as much as possible, but equally fundamental is the safety and well-being of our athletes, officials and fans, so we will continue to adapt to situations related to Covid”.
The U-12 Baseball World Cup is currently set to open the international baseball season: from July 29 to August 7 in Taiwan. Participants: hosts from Chinese Taipei, the Czech Republic, the Dominican Republic, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Panama and Venezuela. A team from Africa, one from Oceania and a wild card team will complete the lot.
The United States will host the U-18 Baseball World Cup, from 9 to 18 September. Chinese Taipei will play as defending champion; American Samoa, Brazil, Canada, Chinese Taipei, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, the Netherlands, Panama and the USA have already been admitted, with an African team yet to be confirmed.
The U-23 Baseball World Cup will be held in Taiwan from 14 to 23 October. In the field Venezuela, Germany and Holland are already qualified with the missing ones that will come from Americas (4), Asia (3), Africa (1), Oceania (1) and a wild card yet to be defined.
The U-15 Baseball World Cup, pending to decide the venue, will be played in the second half of August. The USA are the reigning champions. The Czech Republic and France already have the pass in their pocket. Five national teams from the Americas, Asia (2), Africa (1), Oceania (1) and a wild card yet to be defined will complete the picture.
The first edition of the Baseball5 World Cup is also scheduled, with exact dates and place to be defined.
