The St.Gallen City Council has defined annual goals that are directly related to the legislative goals for 2021 – 2024.
What goals the city has set itself, in the article by RADIO TOP:
cooperation
The city council sees great potential in the development of the St.Gallen West – Gossau East area and is tackling the planning together with the city of Gossau, the municipality of Gaiserwald, the canton of St.Gallen and the business associations. The association ASGO, which was founded for coordination, worked out the development plan for 2021-2023 last year together with the administrations, the economy as well as the landowners and companies. Based on this, the usage vision should be supported by the project participants by the end of the year and the draft concepts for the set of measures for settlement, open space and transport should be available.
culture and sports
The range of sporting events should be even larger in order to be able to achieve a large, national or, if possible, even international response. Regular guests in St.Gallen are, for example, the CSIO St.Gallen, the Cycle Ball World Cup, the Rugby Bishops Cup, the Swiss Indoor Athletics Championships, the Judo Gallus Tournament, the largest table tennis tournament in Switzerland, the Auffahrlauf or regular international handball matches. In 2022, it should be possible to bring another recurring event with national or international appeal to St.Gallen. The focus is on sports that are already well established in the city and region.
society
The city of St.Gallen supports the parents by surveying language contact so that the entry into kindergarten is successful and the children can communicate in German. Based on a systematic survey, families whose children have little or no knowledge of German and who do not yet use any extra-family care (day families, day-care centers) or playgroup offers can be contacted by the city if necessary, informed about SpiKi and day-care center offers and motivated to use them in to claim. This year, for the first time, the questionnaire will be sent to families in the city whose children will start kindergarten in August 2023.
environment
In the city of St.Gallen, around 17,600 apartments and businesses are connected to the district heating network. As part of the implementation of the Energy Concept 2050, the St.Gallen Stadtwerke are constantly expanding this network. If a heating system is to be renewed, it should be replaced with a district heating connection or another sustainable solution whenever possible. The pending demand is analyzed annually by means of monitoring, and the homeowners are actively informed and supported by the St.Gallen Stadtwerke sgsw.
habitat
The structure plan serves authorities and administration as a management and coordination instrument in the areas of settlement, landscape and transport. The existing urban structure plan will be adjusted for the first time since 2012. The core is the implementation of spatially relevant strategies, in particular the internal development and open space strategy. On the one hand, the adjustment is an order from the canton’s structure plan, on the other hand it is the condition for the subsequent overall revision of the building and zoning regulations (BZO). This year, the adaptation of the structure plan is to be decided in the city parliament.
