After his victory in Abu Dhabi, Thomas Pieters has taken a solid step forward in the world golf rankings. The Antwerp native, who is soon turning thirty, immediately jumps from 69th to 31st place in the ranking, a place that opens the doors for a number of very important tournaments in 2022.

For Pieters it is not his highest position. In 2017, after finishing fourth at the Bridgestone Invitational, he was 23rd.
Thomas Detry, who had to settle for 53rd place in Abu Dhabi, has to give up seven places and is now at 105. Nicolas Colsaerts, who did not make the cut, drops from 431 to 443. Kristof Ulenaers and Christopher Mivis, who are both active on the Challenge Tour circuit, are in 410th and 683rd place respectively. Their season kicks off on February 10.
