The evening in Breisgau ended with a fierce battle of words. Andreas Heraf, the new coach of Türkgücü Munich, spoke loudly to the referee, who was about to leave the pitch in the direction of the dressing room. Managing director Max Kothny and sporting director Roman Plesche came along and also gesticulated a lot, then Kothny tapped his forehead several times with his index finger – a scene that may have consequences. Just like the result: The 2:4 (0:1) of the relegation-threatened third division team at SC Freiburg II in the Dreisamstadion makes the future for Türkgücü even more uncertain.
The club is threatened with a point deduction due to a lack of proof of economic performance, president and investor Hasan Kivran is reportedly toying with the idea of selling his shares. In addition to the uncertainty, “disappointment and anger” were mixed, these words came from interim captain Alexander Sorge.
Türkgücü’s first minutes of the game this calendar year were restrained at best. The debut coach Heraf had announced that he would be a rather loud coach, which also came true in the first 20 minutes. However, as the game went on, his players became less and less involved in duels and mostly just ran after them. “One or the other didn’t stick to what we planned,” said Heraf later magenta sport. Moritz Kuhn showed relatively little resistance in the 23rd minute when Noah Weißhaupt prevailed in a duel and pushed in to make it 1-0. A questionable goal because the player from Freiburg took the ball with his forearm while circling Kuhn. However, Türkgücü did not gasp for a long time.
Possibly thanks to the half-time speech, Türkgücü suddenly seemed a lot more agile after the break – and promptly turned the game around with the first two real chances to score. Albion Vrenezi put on a cross for Alexander Sorge, who was captaining the ailing Mergim Mavraj. After his header, Sorge let out a primal scream to equalize, almost as if the season was just beginning (64′). The 2:1 was then achieved by a player who didn’t necessarily have to be on the list: Sinan Karweina had only made short appearances on the first two matchdays in July, in Freiburg he was substituted on in the second half – and was there at the right time right place when he deflected a low shot that was untenable for the Freiburg keeper Noah Atubolu (70′).
In the 84th minute the referee pointed to the penalty spot
“In this phase you saw the face of the team,” Worry enthused later. After eight league games without a win, the horror was all the greater when the referee pointed to the penalty spot in front of the Türkgücü goal in the 84th minute: Sorge is said to have blocked a shot on goal with his arm. Keeper René Vollath almost saved the penalty kick, but Enzo Leopold converted it with the help of the inside post (85′). In the end, there wasn’t even a point because substitute Vincent Vermeij toppled the 3-2 victory in injury time (90+1), which was celebrated by 500 spectators. Weißhaupt used a counterattack two minutes later to make it 4-2.
After he saw the alleged wrong decisions again in the TV interview, Heraf announced that he wanted to visit the referee again in the dressing room. But probably only out of frustration. It was also clear to the coach that “we have to accept that and now have to go home sad”. On Saturday, Türkgücü welcomes bottom-placed TSV Havelse.
