US sports come first

Every year, Sony Interactive Entertainment unveils its ranking of the most downloaded video games in the world on its PS4 and PS5 consoles. This beginning of the year was no exception to the rule with certainties that are not ready to move. In 2021, once again, US sports games dominate the rankings in the United States and Canada.

What does the ranking say?

This should not surprise anyone given the aura and the echo of the North American basketball championship both in the United States and elsewhere in the world. It is therefore only fair if it is NBA 2K22 which is the first lodge in the ranking on the North American continent. The most downloaded game of 2021, it is ahead of other behemoths like Call of Duty or Marvel’s Spiderman.
In 4th place in the ranking, it is still a game that lends its flank to a US sport that is positioning itself: Madden NFL 22. This laudatory place once again devolves on video games which emphasize American football in its wide proportions is proof that US football is spreading its tentacles and bringing back more and more admirers. The other discipline made in the USA which appears in the top 10 is Baseball with the well-named: MLB The Show 21. Eighth in the ranking, the game dedicated to the batting test has been emulated and conquered again more hearts.

This crossing shows if there was still a need for it that the video games which are popular on the North American continent do not necessarily flourish in Europe. The proof, the only US sports game in the European top 20 is far from the leading pack, in this case in 13th position.
