The Atletico Madrid has reached an agreement with Valencia for the transfer of Daniel Wass. The footballer, born in Gladsaxe (Denmark, May 31, 1989), signs for the remainder of the season and another campaign.

Wass, who stands out for his versatility, can play both on the right side and in midfield, positions he has held at Celta, his first club in Spain, and at Valencia, where he arrived in the 2018/19 season, in which he won the Copa del Rey.

The 32-year-old international player leaves the ‘che’ team after having scored 15 goals and 20 assists in 152 games. With the Celtic he played a total of 136 games, thus guaranteeing his experience in the Spanish League and his current state of form, which is competitive.

He has been an international with the Danish national team since 2011 and has played 41 games with the Danish jersey. He was a member of his country’s team at the last Euro 2020, where he started — he played five games — and reached the semifinals of the tournament.

Wass passed the medical examination this Thursday at the University Clinic of Navarra, and will immediately join the work discipline of the Cholo Simeone. His arrival will help alleviate the absences in defense after recurring injuries and the departure of Kieran Trippier to Newcastle in this winter market.
